Little Miss H and Auntie Sue's Excellent Adventure - Day 2 recap

We left our story yesterday with Little Miss H being dropped off at daycare on a cold gray morning, by a very tired and somewhat sickly Auntie Sue.

With Little Miss H happily playing with her little school chums, Auntie Sue managed to get back to the castle in one piece, with her intestines feeling like they were being rung out like a wet towel.  What is going on? she wondered.  Feeling terrible, she grabbed her tea, which she had left on the kitchen cupboard in her hurry to get Little Miss H to school in time for "snack", and went and snuggled under her comfy, cozy throw she'd brought from home, while she read and watched some of the Glee DVD she'd brought from home.

The day felt long but Auntie Sue knew she'd made the right choice in taking Little Miss H to her daycare.  There was no way she could have been chasing after the active preschooler all day feeling as yucky as she was.  She pumped some Advil into her later in the day and went to pick up her princess around 5pm to take her to "Old McDonalds" (McDonalds) for dinner.

Auntie Sue had been told that Little Miss H LOVED "Old McDonalds" but oh my... does she ever!  Check her out... chowing down her Hamburger and Chocolate Milk...

The entire time she ate, Little Miss H couldn't help but peek over her shoulder with longing at the playground behind her.  That was really the draw to "Old McDonalds" after all.  With half her burger, some french fries and a few more gulps of chocolate milk left, Auntie Sue went in search for a bag to take the "leftovers" home in a doggie bag so Little Miss H could go play in the jungle gym behind her.

With delight, Little Miss H threw off her shoes and with socked feet, climbed, swung and slid to her heart's content inside the playground.

all while Auntie Sue snapped pictures of her little charge.  After about 30 minutes, it was time to load back into the SUV for home.  What a surprise they found back at the car... Simon had decided to keep Little Miss H's seat warm while she was in having dinner!

Back at the castle, Little Miss H wanted the remainder of her Old McDonald's meal, having built up her appetite again with all that playground play.  While she finished munching, Auntie Sue preheated the oven and later the two made some chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

Time whipped by and soon it was time for the princess to get ready for bed.  This night she wasn't as shy and invited Auntie Sue to join her on her bed to read some books.  They read a few of her favorites, including the DOG book Auntie Sue had given her for her birthday last year.  Little Miss H laid down in her bed while Auntie Sue rubbed her back like Mommy often did.  Thinking she was ready for sleep, Auntie Sue dimmed the lights and snuck downstairs, leaving Little Miss H lying quietly in her bed.  That was easy, Auntie Sue thought, but about 10 minutes later, she could hear a voice up in Little Miss H's room and found the princess amidst a pile of fresh laundry scattered around the room.  Oops... apparently not quite ready for sleep just yet!

"Hill... you wanna come downstairs and lie on the sofa again?" Auntie Sue asked.
"Yes" said the tiny voice as she grabbed her favorite blankets.

Within 15 minutes of laying down  chatting and wiggling around the sofa, Little Miss H was fast asleep.  As she had done the night before, Auntie Sue scooped the limp body up in her arms and carried Little Miss H up to her bed.

Auntie Sue climbed into her own bed around 10pm and the lights were out by 11, only to be woken around 12:30 by a coughing, unsettled Little Miss H.  Once again Auntie Sue went to her as she called out from the room down the hallway.  Once again Auntie Sue invited her small charge to come snuggle in her bed for the night.

At exactly 7am the Little Miss H alarm clock went off.

"The sun is up" cried out the little voice from across the room.
Sheesh... already?!  rushed the thoughts of the exhausted Auntie Sue.
"How 'bout I put Treehouse on and you watch while Auntie Sue keeps her eyes shut a little longer?"
This idea was met with a nod of the head.  Reprieve!

The reprieve lastly only about 10 minutes... the attention span of a 2 year old apparently!  Auntie Sue was informed it was "time to get dressed" and in a blur, Little Miss H was running down the hall to her room to get her clothes on... the same clothes she wore yesterday.  Seriously... who was going to argue at this sleep-deprived stage of the game?!

Once both dressed, the twosome went downstairs where Little Miss H ate her breakfast while Auntie Sue enjoyed her cup of hot tea.  After breakfast the two headed down to the basement where Little Miss H and her imagination played blissfully.  There was an occasional tea party with Auntie Sue... and an occasional tantrum when Auntie Sue had to step in and advise "no" on a couple issues, but overall the morning went by in a blink.  Around 11:30 Little Miss H's grandparents arrived to relieve a tired Auntie Sue.  Hugs were given and good-byes said and Auntie Sue was on her way.  Little Miss H and Auntie Sue's Excellent Adventure had come to an end!  THE END!
