Well, had you tuned into Rachael Ray today you would have recognized his voice... but holy smokes... what happened to his face?
Caption reads: This is an impressive difference. He looks 10 years younger...but I say he looks like a complete different person!
I completely didn't recognize him from the ghastly work he's had done to his otherwise, previously handsome face. It reminded me of another celebrity who really should have thought long and hard before going under the knife.... Kenny Rogers. Not even HE likes it I've read.
First time I saw Kenny's new face I had to find
an old picture to remember what he looked like

Now I get that none of us enjoy the aging process. I have to take a double look some mornings when I take a gander into my own mirror but seriously... did these guys really think they looked THAT bad that they would actually pay someone tons of money to do THIS to their face and LIKE it? I shudder at the thought!
I worked for almost 7 years at a clinic where every year the sale of Botox and Restylane and/or Perlane dominated the books. Women in their early 20's would come in frantic because they found a wrinkle on their brow. Are you kidding me? Why do you think they invented bangs?
I confess. I color my hair. I vowed I would never do that EVER when I was in my late teens and then by my 30's the gray stragglers were starting to pop up and I gave in to the pressure of the L'Oreal ads. But I also confess... I'm cheap and somehow $22 every 4 months to keep away the gray hairs doesn't bother me, or the budget too much. But some of this other stuff. You need to remortgage the house, get a second job AND sell your children to the highest bidder to keep up with the costs of "maintenance".
When I worked, we had one woman who came to the clinic and had about $350-400 worth of Botox treatments (which I might add need to be reapplied every 4-6 months depending on the area it's injected). She paid by cheque and then two days later asked if we could hold her cheque. Long story short, the woman was going through some relational trauma and needed a "pick me up" of Botox and then couldn't pay the bill after it was done. Hello... it's called a LUXURY for a reason! As far as I know, when I left 18 months ago, the woman still hadn't paid her entire bill.
I do get concerned with our society that what was once a Hollywood addiction has now become the neighborhood addiction of having to be perfect and forever young. There is something just not right about a 70 year old woman looking younger than her grandchildren. I'm just saying! And as we can't help but stare at those whose lips look they've been sucking the pool drain (yes, you Meg Ryan), I just have to ask, "why can't you just leave well enough alone?"

13 friends sat down for a glass:
I am right there with you, girl!! Meg Ryan was so adorable now she looks horrible!! Kenny Rogers doesn't even look like himself. Other then coloring my hair (less than $7 a box), I am going to let age do it's thing.
Amen, Sue!! Rupert Everett --whyyyy?? I loved him in My Best Friend's Wedding.
I think it's sad that people go to some much trouble to look younger (most of the time, IMHO, they just look stretched and stiff), when the truth of the matter is that they are not adding a single hour to their lives. They might even be losing some!
So sad.
Anyway, great post! :)
omg, I didn't even know Kenny Rogers had changed his looks so much, and as for Rupert... well he just looks ridiculous if you ask me. I don't know why people can't leave well alone, perhaps it's the spotlight they're in? but it would be nice if they set a better example and aged gracefully.
Hello Sue, I so agree with you, this is completely ridiculous & scary too. I hope you're having a great week, hugs
Hi Sue, I just loved your entry today. I know all to well about the makeover since my mom had some. Of course we know MJ was the ultimate in opinion of a makeover gone bad. Sad thing is that it cannot make over the inside that is messed up. Only God can do that. Hugs
From Hollywood to Neighborhood--love that line!
Wow, I don't think those are improvements on any of the celebrities you mentioned. It is sad. I color, but that's it for me.
Hey sweets, how you doing?
Thank you for your very helpful FB note, it helped me a lot. xx
I'm totally with you on the botox and cosmetic procedures. What's the point in having it done if it changes a person so drastically that it's extremely obvious they have had it done. Just doesn't make sense at all. What a really don't like is the botox or whatever they put in the lips to make them so full and very unnatural looking. What's wrong with what the good Lord gave us! I confess I colour my hair too, but that's it. Real beauty comes from the inside and is far more desireable than all the procedures in the world. Very well said miss Soozy.
Are you getting used to your new writing mentor? I know you were sad to lose the other guy, but I hope the new one is different but in a good way.
Love ya.... and thanks for having me. xx
Oh my goodness! I can't believe that picture! He used to be handsome and now he is ugly!!! What happened? He doesn't even look close to how he used to look!
Oh my. He looks SOOO different.. that's crazy...
Vanity is so sad... but I guess we all have it in some forms..
Crazy though..
I totally agree with you! I'm not too familiar with Rupert, but it DOES look like a totally different person!
Now, I have always thought that Kenny Rogers should have left well enough alone! He looked fine the way he was! If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I cannot get past this Rupert thing, as you probably know. I asked my daughter about it after I read about it here, and apparently a lot of people are talking about it.
I agree with the dramatic changes of the folks you mentioned. I have teasingly stated, " I will fight age every step of the way", but I do have my limits. :) I figure the highlights in the hair is about as extreme as I want to go. I would be infuriated if I spent all that money and came out looking like some of the cases we have seen.
