The weather in Southern Ontario yesterday was a very humid 75 degrees, particularly lovely for early May. I was able to run out for a few errands in the morning before coming home to slave over the stove, making a meal for Baby C and her extremely tired parents! Can you believe she is 2 weeks old today?! That's gone so fast!
We dropped off the meal of Sweet & Sour meatballs, Scalloped Potatoes, Yellow and Green beans, and the ingredients to make Strawberry Shortcake to D & E on our way to my niece, S's Co-op Homeschoolers yearly drama. I even got a wee snuggle in with Baby C!!
S and her fellow homeschoolers did a fabulous job in their drama. The setting was the behind the scenes of an old time radio show where a murderer is on the loose. S did a great job as one of the "cast members" on the Suspense Theater program on the radio (set back in the days of Ozzie and Harriet). We were all so proud of her!

My niece, S, is the one in the white dress!
This was the second year these kids have done a drama and it was wonderful to see after the play just how much their friendships and unity as a group has grown since last year.
It was also a fabulous night to visit with family. Two of my 3 sisters were there (0ne with her new boyfriend), as well as my brother and sister-in-law (S's parents), nephew and my Dad and Stepmom too. I haven't seen my Dad and Stepmom since they left for Florida last October. They arrived back in Canada the end of April but had been suffering with colds so we missed out on having them come stay with us a few days before they head back up to their home on a Lake north of Toronto.
This is my second Mother's Day since G became my Stepmom. She has been such a tremendous gift to not only my Dad since my Mom's death in 2003, but also to all of us kids. Her family are mostly in the Chicago area, with her oldest son down in Virginia so I think Mother's Day is a bit of a difficult time for her as well. This year I found a perfect card for her, expressing what a beautiful spirit of God's grace and beauty she possesses and what a joy it is to have her in our lives. I found a colorful and full Hydrangea plant and was able to celebrate her as our "new" Mom while we were all visiting at the Dairy Queen not far from the theater. It was a fun evening of drama and celebrating my StepMama!

Me with my Stepmom, G
Today was a lazy day. There was a lot of relaxing done while the washer and dryer were busy doing most of our laundry. Hubby's Mom came for a BBQ. We honored my Mom by using her BBQ sauce recipe for pork ribs. Steak, ribs, salmon, grilled veggies and corn-on-the-cob was the menu for our feast. Hubby had picked up some pastries and empire cookies from his favorite childhood bakery for dessert and we sat in the family room watching movies for the evening.
Hubby's Mom is staying overnight where we will continue to celebrate her in the morning on Mother's Day. It's been a busy weekend but a really great one so far!

I love your hair sweets, it really suits you. There is nothing like a new style now and then to make you feel like a new woman, right?
I am so pleased that your step-mom is such a blessing to all of you. So often that is not the case, but I'm sure it's also the case that you have reached out to her with a loving, accepting heart and she responds to that as well as giving of herself. How sweet of Doug to spoil you both too....nice.
Thank you for your FB note, I will respond there too a bit later.
Have a great week sweetie,
Warm hugs and lots of love,
Julie xx
Sounds like a great day! =D
